About Rancho Romantica de Red

Location: 18km from Olecko, 300km from Warsaw (Warszawa)

"Rancho Romantica de Red" is 11 ha certified organic farm in the North East of Poland. It’s a great place for the people who appreciate silence and calmness and bird songs and who do love to have close contact with friendly farming animals such as horses, goats, cows, hens, dogs, cats. "Rancho Romantica de Red" is located behind a tiny village named Czukty. Czukty consist of the 10 mainly milking farms. The Czukty [chookty] village is hidden between two other villages called Sokółki and Barany, 16km from Olecko town, in the north east part of Poland, 30km from Gołdap where you can cross the boarder in order to go to Russia. The area where Ranch is situated is called "The Green Lungs of Poland" for its clean air and environment. You can meet here lots of wild animals and birds along with farming animals. The Ranch is situated among beautiful meadows, hills, streams, ponds and forests. 5-7km from the Ranch you can find nice places for swimming to which leads beautiful path among fields or you can take a bath in the Ranch stream or pond. Host can speak fluent Polish, English and some Russian and German.

Last year host planted 5 ha an apple, pear, plum and cherry orchard. Host is looking for positive enthusiastic WWOOFers. WWOOFing jobs are planting, grass cutting and collecting, collecting the hay, fencing, cleaning and painting stables, fertilising, wood cutting and collecting, collecting herbs, taking care of farm animals and house, sometimes cooking, gardening, watering, building from stones and wood, making order in the yard and around.

The house is made of bricks and stones and its very old. In the same style were built stables. Host plans to adapt one of the spacy buildings for the accomodation for volunteers.

Presently accommodation in a little room with bathroom or in a tent or over the stable in the huge attic.

How to get here? From Warsaw by bus to Olecko (ticket costs 37 zloty), then from Olecko to the farm by taxi (around 40-50 zloty). From Warsaw to my farm is around 300km, 5 hour journey by bus, then 20-30 minutes by taxi (18km).
